To kick off this blog, we’d like to share a very enlightening and inspiring short essay we were very happy to find in a recent Arise & Shine Newsletter.

Arise & Shine titled this, “Removing the emotional patterns that do not serve or strengthen us.”

“The suffering and limitations in your life and in fact, our entire world, are directly linked to a lack of understanding of how we create our lives.  Our minds, our feelings and our words are far more powerful than most people ever imagined.  With each feeling; each emotions, we create impressions in our subconscious mind.  Like groves in a record or a CD, our feelings inscribe patterns and programs that will influence us in the future.  Once these recordings reach a certain level of intensity, they do not fade away, but continue to display their frequency throughout our existence in this world of duality, until they are de-polarized; canceled or eliminated.

These recordings have determined our personality, our habits, likes and dislikes and even our genome (DNA).  It is them that have determined how we behave, our life style, patterns of eating, thinking and feeling and our state of health.  It is because of them that we perceived things the way we do; react to things the way we do. They are our habits, addictions, our desires, the cause of our success or failures in our life, our expectations, our personality, and all the tendencies and patterns we have.

We, and only we, created them.  We created them out of ignorance and with a little knowledge we can un-create them and create what it is we want in life.”

Focus on the mind

Sometimes while healing the body, we forget the importance of healing the mind. Emotions are a big part of health and wellness, which is why it’s crucial to find a balance between the two. Remember, your mind is control of your body. Emotional cleansing can help regain that control.

Contact us today to set up a recipe for emotional cleansing. We’ll help you establish a program to cleanse your body and mind:

Disease begins in the colon. That’s why it’s crucial to keep it clean.  More doctors are beginning to promote colon cleansing as an effective way to flush waste and toxins from the colon, and it’s no surprise why. Colon hydrotherapy doesn’t only help to keep your intestines clean; it helps keep your entire body in good shape.

Your colon is basically the waste management system of your body. Every organ, cell and tissue relies on that system to function at 100 percent in order to get rid of the waste. If it’s not properly functioning, toxins can begin to spread. That’s a pretty good case for colonics.

Here are 10 other reasons to cleanse your colon:

  • Helps constipation: If you’re not eliminating waste once per day, you may be constipated. Colonics can help make bowel movements regular.
  • Improves colon health: Cleansing allows your colon to naturally heal on its own.
  • Aids in colonoscopy prep: More doctors are supporting colonic irrigation as a superior preparation for a colonoscopy.
  • Hydrates: Colon therapy hydrates your body down to the cellular level, making it a great way to hydrate your entire body.
  • Assists in diet changes: When you’re switching from a diet filled with processed foods to healthier diet, cleansing can help ease the change.
  • Helps the body heal naturally: When filled with toxins, it’s very difficult for the body to heal naturally. Colon cleansing can promote natural healing within.

We recently had a client ask us about “earthing“, or “grounding.” While it’s not a new holistic practice, it’s one that should certainly be in your vocabulary. That’s because it can aid in the healing process, decreasing the amount of chronic inflammation in your body just by connecting with Mother Earth on a daily basis.

What is grounding?

The earth provides us with everything we need to survive, including an eternal, natural, healing energy. But due to our modern lifestyle, we aren’t as connected to that energy as we used to be. The use of rubber, or plastic-soled shoes, keeps us from planting our feet firmly on the ground, a natural practice that allows earth’s healing energy to constantly flow through our bodies. New research has shown that the disconnect might contribute to the chronic pain, fatigue, and poor sleep patterns so common today.

“Earthing” is simply walking barefoot outside on the grass, dirt, sand or concrete for 30 minutes per day. If you try it on wood, asphalt or vinyl, it won’t work. You have to stand on a conductive surface in order to absorb the energy. There are also plenty of products – like special shoes – that help with the practice, but the easiest way is to just step outside barefoot. Think of it as Vitamin G, for “Ground.”

Why it promotes healing

A lot of pain and disease is caused by chronic inflammation. That inflammation is caused by free radicals within the body. When you connect with the earth, negatively-charged electrons are absorbed in the body, killing the free radicals. This has been supported by research and a large number of people. But try it for yourself to see if it works for you.

Pair it with colonics or lymphatic massage

Connecting with the earth is a great way to promote natural healing within your body, but sometimes the body needs more of a boost. Colon hydrotherapy cleanses the body of toxins that often increase the development of free radicals. And lymph massage moves white blood cells throughout the body, giving it more healing power.

We invite you to come to our Palos Verdes location and practice grounding. Call us today for more information!

There’s been a lot of hoopla lately about organic food being a waste of money. And we’ll be ignoring it. The answer is obvious to us: buying organic is never a waste of money. Organically-grown foods are not only better for your body; they are good for the environment.

The study misses the main issue

A new study from Stanford University implied that organic produce might not be any more nutritious than the conventional variety. The media took those findings for quite a spin, going as far as saying that you shouldn’t even bother buying organic. But nutrition isn’t the main issue here. Organically grown produce contains fewer pesticides than non-organic options, and that’s important from a health standpoint.

The Stanford study showed that 38 percent of conventional (non-organic) produce contained pesticide residue. Only 7 percent of organic produce contained pesticide residue. That’s a pretty big difference. The EPA says the pesticide residue limits in conventional produce are safe for human consumption, but we have a problem with that.

You should always avoid pesticide residue

Pesticides are never safe to consume, in any amount.  Pesticides act as toxins within the body, and they can cause all kinds of illnesses. Eating organic food can eliminate a lot of that risk, but it’s still important to cleanse your body on a regular basis with colon hydrotherapy, lymphatic massage and other alternative therapies.

We buy organic for other reasons, too

The reasons supporting organically-grown food seem limitless – at least to us. The wide use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers ruins the environment. It pollutes the water we drink, the air we breathe and the soil we plant our gardens in. Organic farming, on the other hand, removes carbon from the air, promotes the livelihood of soil and protects wildlife from the harms of chemicals. It doesn’t get much more sustainable than that.

There has been a long debate about the use of mercury in dental fillings. But to us, it’s not much of a debate. You should say “no” to mercury when it comes to your health and the environment.

There are more groups than ever trying to stop the use of mercury in dentistry. That’s because there are numerous studies, reports and articles that confirm just how dangerous the metal can be. But only 24 percent of consumers are aware that “silver fillings” contain mercury, according to Mercola.com. So it’s crucial to spread the word.

How it harms your health

Amalgam fillings and quicksilver both contain the toxic heavy metal. And that can really hurt your health. Dental mercury has been shown to cause brain damage, neurological problems and kidney issues. It can also cause problems with fetuses in pregnant women, causing brain development problems and other health issues.

The mercury usually makes its way into your body through those silver fillings that you so often see in teeth. It then accumulates and sticks with you, being stored in the body and remaining toxic. According to Mercola.com, there are between 313 and 411 tons of mercury used each year for dental fillings. And approximately 50 percent of amalgam fillings are filled with mercury.

How it harms the environment

Mercury isn’t only harmful to your health; it’s devastating to the environment. According to ToxicTeeth.org, an organization against the use of mercury in dentistry, Amalgam can pollute our water through dental clinic releases, our air through cremation and our land via landfills. And once it’s in the environment, dental mercury becomes even more toxic, converting to methylmercury.

Use heavy metal detox to get rid of it

Chelation therapy can help you get rid of mercury and other toxic heavy metals. We suggest using Detoxamin or another chelating agent to help rid the body of any metals that have built up in the body. Symptoms you may have heavy metal poisoning include chronic malaise, constant infections, neurological disorders, confusion and dizziness.

If you have Crohn’s disease, you know all too well how it affects your body. But while the Crohn’s diet is very individual, there are some foods that are generally pretty easy on the digestive system and still pack a nutritional punch. Combine that with regular colonics, yoga or other alternative therapies, and you have a recipe for good health.

Here are some foods that may help with Crohn’s:

  • Almond milk: If you have Crohn’s, lactose isn’t your friend. Almond milk solves that problem. Some almond milk contains as much calcium as regular milk. It also has vitamin D and E and contains no saturated fat or cholesterol.
  • Salmon: We like organically-raised or fresh-caught salmon the best. But most of the calories you’ll receive from any kind of salmon are from protein. And it’s packed with omega-3 fatty acids.
  • Avocado: Organic avocados are packed with good fats, vitamins and potassium. They are also soft, smooth and easy to digest.
  • Eggs: Any way you cook them, eggs are packed with protein and easy on the digestive tract. They are also relatively inexpensive, which is why we recommend going with the slightly more expensive organic variety.
  • Nut butter: Almond butter and other smooth butters are an extremely good source of protein, vitamins and good fat. And if you get the smooth kind, it’ll be much easier for your body to digest.

Here are some therapies that may help with Crohn’s:

  • Colon hydrotherapy: A lot of diseases are caused by a build of toxins the digestive tract. By cleansing the colon, you cleanse the body and give it a chance to start fresh.
  • Yoga: Yoga has a wide range of benefits, and it may help ease inflammation within the body.
  • Lymphatic massage: Increasing the flow of lymph within the body can help stimulate natural healing, which is idea for autoimmune disorders.
  • Meditation: The mind is extremely powerful. Calming the mind via meditation may help with symptoms.

It’s a shame that sleep, one of the most important things for your health, is often one of the most overlooked. We can’t place enough emphasis on sleep as a source of healing. But most Americans, especially those with sleep disorders, may not be getting enough. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to ensure a good night’s rest.

Colon hydrotherapy for sleep

Colonics is a great way to prepare your body for a good night’s sleep. Why? Often, toxins within the body are a cause of sleep deprivation. A colonic gets rid of compacted fecal matter and other waste within the colon, giving your body the chance rejuvenate and rest.

Here are some other quick tips for better rest:

  • Avoid afternoon caffeine: If you can, avoid caffeine all together. But if you need an extra boost, get it before 2:00 p.m. That will give the natural effects time to wear off.
  • Sip on some wine: But do it with dinner. Drinking wine right before bed, or any alcohol, will actually disturb the sleep process. But having a glass earlier in the night can help you relax.
  • Do yoga: It won’t only relax your body; it will relax your mind. Focus on your breathing, reduce muscle tension and put your mind at ease so you can fall into a deep sleep.
  • Dim the lights: Too much light close to bedtime can make it hard to fall into a slumber. Keep your room dark, dim the lights and relax.

Alzheimer’s disease is at epidemic levels. It’s the most common cause of dementia among people who are 65 and older. Unfortunately, there’s no cure. But there are things you can do – like colonics – to help prevent the disease.

Make it a challenge

Stimulating your mind on a daily basis is one of the most important activities you can do for prevention. Think about learning a new language or learning to play an instrument. Experts say that building new connections in the brain can help with onset.

Work up a sweat

Exercise is, of course, great for your body. It helps with overall health and wellness. But it also helps trigger a positive change in certain proteins in the body that researchers think have to do with the onset of Alzheimer’s. Do at least 30 minutes a day.

Eat well

We always stress the importance of eating well on this blog. But we’re going to do it again. Raw organic foods can really change the overall health and wellness of your body. For Alzheimer’s, a balanced diet rich in folate, omega-3 fats and vitamin B12 can really help with prevention. Eating a lot of blueberries, which are rich in antioxidants, can protect the nervous system.

Colonic irrigation and chelation

Colon hydrotherapy can clear toxins, making it possible for the body to heal itself. But chelation heavy metal detox therapy can clear metals out of your body – specifically aluminum and mercury – which have been associated with the onset of the disease.

Whereas the circulatory system gets its power from the heart, your lymphatic system gets is oomph and flow from movement. It doesn’t have the advantage of a central pump, so it has to rely on your everyday activity. It’s a one-way system. That is, the flow of lymph only moves in one direction throughout the body. Valves keep it from moving backwards.

Lymphatic fluid delivers nutrients and oxygen to the cells in the body. It also removes waste, viruses and other toxins out of the body. But if your fluid is stagnant, it can cause fluid retention, which is bad news. Lymphatic massage is great for moving lymph, but there are plenty of other ways to get your system flowing.

Try deep breathing

You don’t need to exercise to keep it flowing. While exercise is crucial to the health of your body – we’d never say otherwise – deep diaphragmatic breathing techniques can get things moving just as well as other methods. Slowly breathe in through the nose, pushing your belly out. Then release the breath slowly. Make sure to maintain control of your breathing throughout the entire process. The lung expansion and contraction helps to move lymphatic fluid. Diaphragmatic breathing is, of course, great for overall wellness and health. Try it for at least 10 minutes per day.

Get a rebounder

Trampolines are an amazing way to exercise. They also happen to be a great way to wake up the lymphatic system. You don’t necessarily have to jump on the trampoline. Just a gentle walk should do. The bounce replicates a free-gravity environment, which gives your lymph a chance to move upward.

Go for lymphatic massage

Certified therapists can stimulate the flow of lymph within the body. Lymphatic fluid is massaged in the direction of the heart, which brings nutrients in and moves waste out. This is the most beneficial way to promote the health of this vital system.

Your diet is vital to the health of your gut and microbiome. If you want to stay healthy, you’ll need a balanced diet – preferably with organic foods. What you eat and how you eat are far more important than how much you eat. Here are some ways to feel full on less and promote the health of your gut:

Drink more water

It sounds simple, but drinking at least two cups of water (16 ounces) before meals will fill you up and keep you hydrated. Water is vital for the function of your organs. It promotes cleansing throughout the body. Keep yourself hydrated throughout the day and wellness will follow.

Eat fresh fish

Fresh fish can keep you full for hours. It’s packed with omega-3 fats, which tend to keep your fuller for longer than beef. Omega-3 fatty acids are also vital for brain function and other functions throughout the body. Your gut will thank you later.

Go nuts

Raw nuts are filled with nutrition. They pack fiber, protein and fats into a small serving size — you’re getting more out of eating less. Nuts may also increase metabolism.

Bring on the beans

Packed with fiber and protein, beans will fill you up and promote gut health. Eat several kinds of beans to get a variety in your diet. They can substitute for some proteins in a vegan diet.
