How Moxibustion can help you healAuthor: Jessica

With the increasing assault of FDA approved medications, many people overlook the array of benefits that alternative medicine holds. Moxibustion is a tradition Chinese medicine that involves the burning of tightly bound herbs to target acupunture points and expedite the body’s natural healing process. In combination with colonic irrigation, it can provide tremendous benefits to the body. How Moxibustion is used The purpose of moxibustion is to promote the body’s natural healing process. The herbs are burned at acupuncture points and the heat produced penetrates into the body to restore balance and qi. At Transformational Health in Palos Verdes, we use moxibustion in combination with colonic irrigation for a complete total body cleanse. Types of moxibustion There are two common types of moxibustion: direct and indirect. Direct moxibustion involves the burning of moxa (tightly wound dried leaves from mugwort and wormwood) directly on the acupuncture points. This method promotes healing but also can produce pain and scarring. Indirect moxibustion involves burning the tightly wound herbs above the skin or on an acupuncture needle that’s already in place. It can also be done by placing garlic, ginger or salt on the skin and then burning the moxa. This method produces little or no pain and no scarring. What ailments is it used for? Moxibustion dates back thousands of years to early northern China. It has been used for digestive problems, ulcers, arthritis, and to increase circulation to the pelvis. At Transformational Health in Palos Verdes we offer colonic irrigation and moxibustion to provide you with a total body benefit. Contact us today for your consultation.
